Country Style Smallgoods’s Sebastian Jurcan has been one of Ballarat Food’s original and most enthusiastic supporters. It was not long ago that this maker of fine quality small goods arrived in the Ballarat region, armed with fine charcuterie skills from his many years at Istra in Musk, near Daylesford, and a dream to set up a local quality smallgoods outlet in our area. We knew he was going to be a good thing for the Ballarat food scene.

Mitchell Harris Wine Bar and Cellar Door in Doveton Street North has been a popular spot in the heart of Ballarat since early 2013, a recent visit to try their fare was a wonderful experience for the tastebuds. The wine offering available by the glass would have to be the best in Ballarat and more than enough for it's own comprehensive review. The excellent thing about this local wine bar is that there is more than wine to enjoy.
As the new season unfolds the second year chefs at Federation University Commercial Cookery School are offering local food lovers a Spring Luncheon of terrines, pate′ and galantine, midday this Thursday the 25th of September, at Prospects Restaurant, for the unbelievable price of $15 including a glass of wine. I attended last week and I have never sampled such a variety of terrines and pate′ and galantine, they were superb and unfortunately I could not try everything on offer as much as I may have been tempted.
