WHAT YEAR DID YOU START AND WHO WERE YOU INSPIRED BY? Country Style Smallgoods commenced in 2013 when Sebastian saw the potential for his quality artisan smallgoods to be produced locally in the Ballarat region. Initially Sebastian supplied his Country Style Smallgoods on a wholesale basis to deli's, restaurants and cafes in Melbourne and the greater Ballarat region. 

Sebastian's parents are originally from Istra, a peninsula off the Northern Coast of Croatia. The southern European lifestyle is renowned for quality cured meats, using processes from previous generations dating back hundreds of years. Sebastian's meat producing skills were acquired whilst a boy residing with his family in Musk, southeast of Daylesford making a variety of salamis, proscuitto, pancetta and cappocollo was a daily activity. To quote Sebastian, "Growing up, it's what we did, our cultural thing."

WHAT IS THE CURRENT STATE OF YOUR PRODUCTION? It's a very exciting time for Country Style Smallgoods, Sebastian is currently undertaking the development of a direct to retail production facility in Bald Hills, just 17 kilometres north of Ballarat. Soon (watch this space, we will definitely be reporting on this) you will be able to try and buy a range of fantastic meat products directly from Country Style Smallgoods, from quality bacons and hams to a range of cured meats, proscuito, cappocollo and pancetta, smoked loin, smoked chicken breast and an amazing variety of sausages: chorizo, morcilla, garlic and pepper, chipolatas...the list goes on. Sebastian is always trying new sausage variations.

IS YOUR PRODUCT SEASONAL IF SO WHEN IS IT AVAILABLE? The types of meats I produce are definitely dependant on the quality and volume of pigs and chickens ready to acquire but I have spent considerable time establishing a network of farmers and providers who are able to supply an excellent range to draw from.

ANY RANDOM INFORMATION? Many of you maybe familiar with Sebastian's fine quality produce from the many years he spent working in his family business, Istra Smallgoods located in Musk.

WHERE CAN WE BUY YOUR PRODUCE? You can currently sample Sebastian's quality meat produce at a large number of places around Ballarat including, The Lane, Cafe Meigas, Jacksons & Co, L'espresso, Java, The Unicorn and Mid City Bar & Grill just to name a few. If you are in Melbourne you can pop into the legendary deli, Casa Iberica to purchase some of his produce to take home.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO MAKE WITH YOUR PRODUCE? Eat it as is. Sebastian especially enjoys his meats served with a couple of wines.
